BTWF roles: Scott Grimes and Hal Sparks in Frog

Before Scott Grimes was a doctor on ER and Hal Sparks was a comic book guy on Queer as Folk, they were both BFFs in Frog! Hal was so cute at 17 in his first role and Scott Grimes was just so precious at 15 in this 1987 movie! I have not seen that movie [...]

Lost - Natural Born Killers

Well, after what seemed like two weeks off (last week’s episode was a little flat), we were once again treated to a great, thought-provoking, mind-bending episode of Lost.Episode 5.10 “He’s Our You” was a Sayid-centered episode whose title came from the comparisons between Sayid and Dharma’s torturer Oldham.  However, the episode really drew more parallels [...]

American Idol - Who went home

It's result night over on Idol when we fast forward through the group lip sync, ego boosting introductions, dramatic pauses and all that other nonsense and finally get a glimpse at who is going to be singing for their lives tonight. If things go as expected, the judge's save won't be used but stranger things have happened and it just occurred to me that there are only three female contestants left and with Vote for the Worst campaigning to keep Megan on the show, the bottom 3 tonight could be very interesting. Thus, without further ado, let's see how it all played out.

My boy, Adam, is first to stand and is promptly told to sit right down. Matt is next and I'm thinking will be asked to be seated but no, Ryan says he's in the bottom three which is just bullshiz! Did America go deaf this week???? I don't get it!!!!! Kris is next and is proclaimed safe but still makes a move to center stage by accident. Mind you, I can't tell you what he sang last night but I remember it wasn't horrid.

Michael and Lil are pitted against each other. I won't be surprised at either being in the bottom three after Matt. I thought Lil was fantastic but I have heard quite a few people who thought she wasn't that great and Michael, well, I did say yesterday that he picked far too big of a song that was not suited for him. Ryan welcomes Michael down to the dreaded silver chairs along with Matt. All I have to say is Scott had better being joining them!

Allison is next after the Joss Stone and Smokey Robinson duet. No worries there the fiery redhead is safe. Hardly, a shocker. Anoop is next and is also safe. Good old wholesome Danny is up next with his cocky little retorts to Simon and he'll be back. Fine, I get it but I still don't like him. Now, it's between the worst two from last night, Scott and Megan. Scott is led by Ryan to complete the trinity of silver chairs. Megan looked stunned so at least she's in touch with reality.

Randy seems to be pissed off about Matt being in the bottom three andrightly so too. Ryan finally announces who is safe and Scott is sent back to the couch!!! WTF!!!!! If today had been April's Fool I might just have been amused by this but this just sucks! If Matt, is indeed the one I think there is a good chance that the judges will save him. If it's Michael, it will be the end of the road which I thought would be next week or shortly thereafter.

The show is prolonged by a surprise performance by Stevie Wonder. I'm starting to think this is a subliminal attempt to garner Scott more votes. Finally, Michael is revealed to be the one singing for survival and frankly, I think that the judges don't even need him to sing one last time but I must say he did sound better tonight. No save used and Michael is going home to his little girl.

I'm thinking I might just need to start a campaign of my own to get Scott voted off this show once and for all. Who wants to join me??

It Was Written: Kings, Slumdogs, and Prophecies

I?ll just go ahead and say that I thought Slumdog Millionaire was weak. And without getting into every possible level of critique (the implausible plot, the dopey politics, the corny resolution), I’ll focus on the central conceit of the film, which, I think, is the ultimate copout of any story: we learn, in the [...]

American Idol: Watch Our Lips!

Idol2-650 From the New York Times, this report on  what may turn out to be the scandal of the year: American Idol contestants are lip singing some of their songs. A spokesman for the producers of ?American Idol?said as much on Wednesday, after assertions by a former ?American Idol?contestant that the weekly group numbers, which are performed near thebeginning of each week?s results show, appear to be using recordedvocals this year.

That contestant, Justin Guarini ? who finished second to Kelly Clarksonin the first season of ?American Idol? and is now a co-host of ?IdolWrap? on the TV Guide Network ? created an uproar when he said lastweek on that program that the performers appeared to be lip-synching.

?Everysingle year we can?t stand the group performances,? Mr. Guarini said.?I know they can?t stand it either. And I think what makes them evenworse now is that they?re lip-synched. They?re really prerecorded now.?

ManfredWestphal, a spokesman for FremantleMedia North America, which produces?American Idol? for Fox, at first denied the charge, saying on Tuesday:?The Idols don?t lip-sync, period.? But on Wednesday, in an e-mailmessage, Mr. Westphal said: ?Due to extensive choreography and tobalance their voices with open mikes against a screaming audience, theIdols do sing along to their own prerecorded vocal track during thegroup performances only.?

A Spoiler even Spoilerphobes will want to know

In my last post I debated whether or not to open up what it technically a 'spoiler' to everyone. If you really, really, really hate knowing anything about the future inside the show then you can stop now.

But, I think this is something that interests everyone as it is not specific, but it's about the general path of the show in general.

So...

Since Zack left (or was ripped violently from the show, per your view), we have been blessed (or cursed) with rotating interns. If memory serves me, we were promised this House-like plot device would be temporary.

Well.... gotcha?

According to producer Stephen Nathan
, they aren't going away anytime soon:

Question: There appears to be agreement amongst most Bones fans that the ridiculously adorable Wendell must be crowned Brennan's permanent grad student. (I mean, come on! The guy geeks out with Brennan and the Squint Squad and he?s Booth?s hockey buddy? How can you say no to that?) Any idea as to when we'll see the end of rotating-intern-palooza? --Olivia
Ausiello:
Maybe never. "As of now we're going to continue to rotate them," says exec producer Stephen Nathan. "We were looking back at all the interns we used this season and trying to figure out who would work out best, and we can't make a decision. We love them all. And I think [the variety] has really helped the show a lot, because fans have their favorite, so people tune in to find out who's going to be on that week. Also, we've been extremely lucky with the actors we've cast. Everybody our casting director Rick Milligan has brought in could easily be a regular on our show, and that's a very rare thing to find. It seems like we have a permanent cast of players now."
Are you happy with this? I, for one, would bristle at Olivia's assertion everyone likes Wendell. I would take Clark in a heartbeat, though, I must admit some of them have been growing on me recently, especially Mr. Nigel Murray.

What are your thoughts on the interns? (Apologies to those who have already posted on the other thread but would love if you could repost your comments here!)
