Though it came as no surprise to me that 50 Shades of Grey will be coming to the big screen, I'll admit that I was blanking on the perfect casting. That is, until Ian Somerhalder expressed interest in playing Christian Grey. The sensational erotic novel revolves around the S&M relationship between 27-year-old-billionaire Christian Grey and naive college student Anastasia Steele, and the romance that comes with her sexual education. Somerhalder seems so right for the role of Christian that now I can't picture anyone else in the part. Not only does he fit the bill physically, but there are so many similarities between Christian and Damon, Somerhalder's character The Vampire Diaries. Check out my top five reasons why Somerhalder would be the perfect Christian Grey, and tell me if you agree.
Can you see Somerhalder in the role or do you already have someone else in mind? Let's hear your casting ideas in the comments.

Add to myYahoo! The Dowager Countess could be asking "What is a BAFTA?" very soon. "Downton Abbey" star Maggie Smith has been nominated for a British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role on the crossover hit drama "Downton Abbey."
Smith -- who has previously been nominated for four TV BAFTAs, but never won -- is the only "Downton Abbey" cast member to pick up a nomination in the 2012 awards. In the film category, Smith has taken home five BAFTAs out of 12 nominations. Smith has also received the Special Award in 1993 and the BAFTA Fellowship in 1996. Her nomination comes hot on the heels of reports that she'll leave the Julian Fellowes series after Season 3. Despite reports of contract talk, a representative for Masterpiece, a co-producer of "Downton Abbey," said the reports are false.
"Season 3 is currently filming with Maggie and the rest of the cast," the representative said in an email statement. "We don't comment on future storylines, but there's no truth in the story that Maggie is leaving the show."
In 2010 "Downton Abbey" was nominated for the YouTube Audience Award and Brendan Coyle, or Mr. Bates to "Downton" viewers, was nominated as a supporting actor.
Other 2012 BAFTA nominees include "Modern Family" and "The Killing" in the International category and "Misfits" in the drama series category. "Sherlock's" cast picked up nominations with Benedict Cumberbatch for lead actor and Andrew Scott and Martin Freeman in the supporting category.
The 2012 BAFTAs take place Sun., May 27 in London.

Add to myYahoo! The recent jab at Fox News by "The Simpsons" did not go unnoticed by that network's marquee personality.
Bill O'Reilly fired back at the show on Monday after "The Simpsons" took a series of swipes at Fox News on Sunday. The occasion was the 25th anniversary of the Fox broadcasting network.
"I like how the network is a daring liberal antidote to the right-wing news channel it gave birth to," Lisa Simpson said at one point in the show. Later, the animators put up a card that read, "Congratulations FOX on 25 years...We still love you (this doesn't include Fox News)."
O'Reilly called the gags a "cheap shot," and said the card was "dopey" and "predictable."
If viewers may have felt like they were experiencing deja vu, it's because they were: back in 2010, "The Simpsons" mocked its corporate sibling for three straight weeks. Who came to the channel's defense? None other than Bill O'Reilly.

Add to myYahoo! With Mitt Romney ready to go as the GOP presidential nominee, the next order of business for Republicans is finding him a compelling running mate. If he's going to take on Obama, he needs someone dynamic and appealing to voters who aren't rich white men.
On Monday night's "Daily Show," however, Jon Stewart seemed to notice a lot of potential vice presidents giving a polite "no thank you." Several eligible and well-known figures within the party, including Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Condoleezza Rice, have all made TV appearances where they seem -- how shall we put this? -- abjectly disinterested in a nomination.
In fact, it's turned into a media game of hot potato, with each politician lobbing the conversation back in someone else's direction.
Whether or not Romney is able to find Mr. Right is yet to be seen, but at the end of the day there's always Herman Cain.

Add to myYahoo! The "Pawn Stars" (Mon., 10 p.m. ET on History) found themselves face-to-face with a piece of political history Monday night.
Rick Harrison identified the artifact as a rare Abraham Lincoln campaign token from 1864. He even suggested that the president himself may have touched it as he handed it out to a supporter.
So, what price Honest Abe's token? Because of its damaged condition Rick offered the seller $300. Which he turned down.
Check out the "Cajun Pawn Stars" with a lock of Abraham Lincoln's hair.

Add to myYahoo! On "American Pickers" (Mon., 9 p.m. ET on History) Monday night, Mike Wolfe was stoked to discover what he called "one of my holy grails" -- the Von Dutch XAVW.
Created in 1966, the bike was a combination of Harley-Davidson XA frame and a Volkswagen engine. Its whereabouts having been unknown for years, "everyone in the freaking world wants to know where this bike is," said Mike.
Luckily for him the owner was willing to part with the bike so Mike bought himself a piece of history for $21,000.
Find out what the "American Pickers" uncover next on Monday nights at 9 p.m. EST on History.
