'The Big Bang Theory' finale: Raj's finest hour

After being the quietest person on the show (in more ways than one) for much of its multi-year run, it was time for Raj to have a moment on "The Big Bang Theory." Kunal Nayyar has always...

'American Idol:' Top 3 Eliminations Results Recap

After 95 million record setting votes, the most ever at this point in the competition, tonight we learned the fate of the final three.

But not before Nicole Scherzinger and 50 Cent, accompanied by a very loud smoke machine took to the stage for our entertainment. Add JJ Abrams and an Italian boyband to the mix and you've got yourself another totally random results show. Also on tap was a more extensive look at the Top 3 homecoming visits, this past weekend.

Why 'Parks and Recreation' Is One of TV's Top
Shows (& Some Season Finale Questions)

['Parks and Recreation' - 'The Bubble' and 'Li'l Sebastian']

This is not information that calls for a spoiler alert, but seven months from now, I'm sure 'Parks and Recreation' will be on my Top 10 Shows of 2011 list.

The show has not only increased its breadth in enormously pleasing ways -- Pawnee is now populated by the most hilarious cast of secondary and tertiary characters on television -- but it also skillfully gave depth to all its core characters, especially Leslie Knope. If you haven't thrilled to the warmth and sweetness Amy Poehler gave Leslie over the last few months then, damn it, you're not human.

But it's because Leslie's emotional life has become so real and believable that I have one or two misgivings about where the show has taken her and where it may be headed next season.

Grey's Anatomy Rundown, "Unaccompanied Minor"

Oh what a different a year can make. It's hard to believe that this week's tame season finale of Grey's Anatomy came from the same writers that gave us the gripping shoot-out that ended in two major deaths (but at least I didn't come close to a panic attack this time around). In lieu of shocking moments and major cliffhangers, the season seven finale is all about love and loneliness. While some are coming closer together (like Lexie and Jackson), other couples and friends are seriously drifting apart.

Both Alex and Meredith have to suffer the consequences of Mere's actions with Derek's trial, while a local plane crash makes Teddy rethink a major decision. Meanwhile, Cristina learns that she's pregnant and the new chief resident is finally chosen. Ready to rehash everything that went down? Just keep reading.

  • Derek's plans of happily building his dream house for Meredith and Zola are rudely interrupted when Owen and the Chief call him in about Alex's claims against Meredith. Meredith admits that she tampered with the trial, but refuses to admit what she did on the grounds that it will discredit the whole experiment. Karev is forced to come clean though, and the Chief eases up when he learns that Mere was trying to protect Adele. Derek isn't as kind; he tells Meredith that she doesn't know the difference between right and wrong, and even doubts her skills as a parent. Their timing couldn't be worse, as Meredith is given custody of Zola, only to bring her home to an empty house where Derek is nowhere to be found. Derek is understandably angry, but I have a feeling these two will work it out - they've been through worse, and there's no way Derek will be able to resist being a dad to adorable Zola.
  • Turns out Karev actually dug his own grave by ratting out Meredith. Not only does he incite a grand inquisition from Derek and Webber, but he costs himself the chief resident position. When Hunt selects Kepner as the new chief, Karev flies into a rage saying that she's not good enough. Owen snaps back saying that Karev just threw the most well-liked surgeon under the bus, and that the position was Karev's until he ratted out Mere. The truth hurts, eh Alex?
  • Teddy is about to catch her flight to Germany, but the big plane crash delays her plans. She tries to spend some last-minute time with Henry, but by her second goodbye, he's had enough. Henry ditches the sarcastic comments and jokes and tells Teddy that he's tired of playing her BFF because he's in love with her. I couldn't have internally cheered louder for him when he finally mans up - I've been waiting for this moment since the minute he arrived at Seattle Grace. Thankfully, his confessions don't fall on deaf ears this time, and Teddy finally gives him the kiss he's been waiting for. To boot, she tells him that she's falling in love with him! Fireworks and high-fives all around!
  • It's been a long season of baby drama, and now Cristina and Owen are in on the game. Predictably, they don't share the same opinion when Cristina learns she's pregnant - Owen wants to start a family and Cristina is not interested in being a mother. Despite a lot of back and forth, Cristina decides on her own that she's having an abortion. Owen makes one last plea for her to reconsider, but when she puts her foot down, he kicks her out. With nowhere else to go, she heads to Meredith's house. Now the real question is whether or not a few days with Zola will be enough to make Cristina reconsider. I'm not the biggest Owen and Cristina fan in the world, but I'd love to see Cristina as a mother.
  • The Mark and Lexie will-they-or-won't-they show may finally be over. Mark decides to officially give Lexie over to Jackson (which, I must agree with Lexie, is totally paternalistic), saying that Jackson better take care of her. Though Jackson kind of scoffs at Mark's olive branch, he relays the message to Lexie, who's less than thrilled to hear the news. She and Mark come face to face once again about the issue, and though Lexie says she still loves him, Jackson is the one to make her happy. Mark concedes and lets her go, but can't help but point out that she's the one who's having trouble walking away. A lot of couples have come and gone on Grey's, but I can't help it if I'll always hope for these two to get back together - though Jackson isn't a bad second choice.

How did you feel about the episode? Were you expecting more jaw-dropping moments? Are you as excited about Teddy and Henry as I am? Let's get chatting!

The Office, "Search Committee": Best Lines of the
Night

Dunder Mifflin is closed for the Summer, so to speak - The Office has its season finale this week, with Jim, Toby, and Gabe on the hunt for a new manager. They're tasked with interviewing candidates for the open position (including the woman who may be coming in permanently, Catherine Tate), while Creed sits in as acting manager, instituting his specific brand of crazy. As the promos promised, there is a host of familiar faces up for the job, like Ray Romano, James Spader, Will Arnett, and Jim Carrey, and they each have pretty good bits.

The conference room is hardly the only place for laughs though; when Angela gets engaged and Erin tries to get Andy's attention, everyone seems to have at least one funny moment. So as we say goodbye to another season of The Office, let's go over some of the best lines from the finale when you read more.

  • Phyllis: "It was a big year for babies. Porky's had come out."
Erin: "I'm sure I was just another Porky's baby. But why not find out." - Phyllis and Erin wait to find out if Erin is the baby Phyllis gave up for adoption years ago
  • "Shut up about the sun. Shut up about the sun!" - Gabe, yelling at Andy for spouting off so many facts in his interview
  • Dwight: "What's your daughter's name again? Pee Pee?"
    Jim: "Peepa."
Dwight: "Peepa. That's great." - Dwight tries to make small talk with Jim so he'll be considered for the manger job
  • "Angela went a whole day without telling me I had lettuce in my teeth. Screw her." - Phyllis, voting against telling Angela that her fiancé is gay
  • "Don't you just love paper and things about paper?" - Pam, pretending to be a Dunder Mifflin client so Creed can't drive away any real clients

What did you think of the finale? And even though it seems like Tate is going to end up with the job, which of the applicants did you like the most?

Face front, True Believer! Writer Buddy Scalera
has the inside scoop on Creating Comics! (Interview)

Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience of comic book creators who watch Smallville backwards in hopes of hearing secret messages from Tom Welling? in the new new media capitol of the world? St. Petersburg, Florida!

The first thing you notice about Buddy Scalera? A really cool, literary name.

Honestly, I?d like to name a character in a movie ?Buddy Scalera.? Maybe comedy about bowling? Or he could be a high school English teacher. Or a nebbishy stock broker who plots to rob a bank. How awesome would that be? But don?t tell the real Buddy ? I don?t want to be sued.

Speaking of the real Scalera, he?s the author of the just released instructional book, Creating Comics from Start to Finish. And even if you?re not a comic book writer or artist wannabe, it?s a really interesting piece of work the way it takes readers behind the scenes of how sausages ? I mean comic books ? are made.

Scalera knows the business from having been on the inside ? he co-wrote Deadpool at Marvel with his friend Jimmy Palmiotti and created and published his own title, 7 Days to Fame, for After Hours Press.

More recently, Scalera started a website devoted to teaching his favorite subject, ComicBookSchool.com.

BUDDY SCALERA audio excerpt: "Learning about how the comic book creators broke in, how hard they work, the things they do to stay in... It's a really competitive business. If you fail or take a holiday, there are hundreds of people to take your place. The people I interviewed know this. That impressed me."
