Joe Scarborough: Christine O'Donnell Is Held to a
Different Political Standard (VIDEO)

On 'Morning Joe' (weekdays, 6AM ET on MSNBC), the gang watched a 12-year old tape from the old Bill Maher 'Politically Incorrect' show in which politician du jour Christine O'Donnell stated she would never lie -- even if she was in Germany during Hitler's reign, had a Jewish person hiding in her attic, and the Nazis knocked on her door looking for Jews.

There was a consensus among the panel that despite the Maher tape -- and despite the fact that O'Donnell had been caught lying about other, non-theoretical things -- she was still electable.

This fired up Joe Scarborough, who believes women are held to different political standards than men. "In some ways a tougher standard, but in other ways an easier standard," he explained.

In the case of O'Donnell, Scarborough is going with the easier standard:

"If a man . . .had lied about his college career for 20 years, had lied about going to Princeton, had lied about his finances ... had gone on Bill Maher and said he would not lie ... about hiding a Jew in the attic ... That guy would be so dead in the water."
