Men ramming each other with sticks in slow
motion: awesome, but Full Metal Jousting needs more

Full Metal Jousting concluded its first season last night, and while it didn't prove itself to be as strong as Top Shot--which also airs on History and is produced by the same producers--it's another well-crafted reality show that actually makes sense on its network. The show gave us reality TV's first horse punch elimination, and may be the most brutal reality TV competition since The Contender, which involved punching people in the head. (There are... keep reading »

Men ramming each other with sticks in slow

What Did You Think of Girls

HBO's latest series Girls premiered this week, with Lena Dunham leading a pack of 20-something ladies as Hannah, a young woman figuring out her personal life and career in New York. In the first episode, we're introduced to her and her friends Marnie (Allison Williams), Jessa (Jemima Kirke), and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet), and the variety of challenges in their lives. I got you up to speed on the Girls pilot beforehand, but now that you've had a chance to see it for yourself, I want to know what you think. Are the characters compelling enough for you to want to keep up with? Are the dating situations funny, or are they a little too uncomfortable? Let me know what you thought of Girls, and whether you'll be tuning in again next week.

Celebrity Coachella Kiss Cam

The Coachella kiss cam has been more than snap happy at the California music festival. "Vampire Diaries" stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev packed on the PDA while delighting their ears at the celebrity-packed venue.

Dobrev got into the Bohemian spirit of the festival, wearing a belted red maxi dress and Somerhalder did the same in a black tank top and fedora. But these vampire aficionados weren't the only couple to show a little love at the festival.

Vanessa Hudgens and boyfriend Austin Butler were all over each other during their multiple Coachella visits. The infamous PDA pair locked lips while reclining on the grass, Hudgens giving her guy a kiss while showing off her Coachella style in a floral headpiece.

Check out Ian and Nina's PDA below:

WATCH: Real-Life Driver's Ed Video Featured In
'Mad Men'

Sunday's episode of "Mad Men" continued the season-five trend of highlighting real-life tragedies for narrative sport.

Spoiler Alert: This article reveals minor plot details from "Mad Men" Season 5 Episode 5. If you don't wish to know what happened in the episode, please stop reading now.

At the onset of the episode -- directed by series regular John Slattery -- Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser) is shown in a driver's education class watching a black-and-white film about the dangers of operating an automobile. The film was called "Signal 30," a scared-straight short produced in conjunction with the Ohio State Highway Patrol that was shown in school's around the country during the '60s and '70s. Not coincidentally, the "Mad Men" episode was also titled "Signal 30."

The original video is available online (unearthed by the website Badass Digest), and you can watch it above, but be warned: it contains some shocking images of mutilated bodies, as well as a fairly inappropriately hilarious montone voiceover. "The car was literally shoveled to the junkyard."

"Signal 30" wasn't the only real-life event referenced in "Signal 30"; the episode also featured mention of Charles Whitman, a former Marine and University of Texas student who shot and killed ten people from the observation tower on top of the campus' administration building. Overall, Whitman murdered 15 people, including his wife and mother; he was killed by police after the sniper shootings on Aug. 1, 1966. An autopsy on Whitman later revealed that he had a massive brain tumor, which may have caused his actions.

"Mad Men" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. on AMC

'Mad Men': Lane Tries To Prove His Worth,
Challenges Pete

Lane is struggling to find where he belongs in the new firm, and so he decided he was going to assert himself on "Mad Men" (Sun., 10 p.m. ET on AMC). He did so by landing a potential deal with a new client. Only, Lane isn't properly equipped to land a client. What nobody knew was that the client was basically already landed.

Instead, Lane flubbed his first attempt to find common ground with the client, and then things went completely off the rails when Pete, Roger and Don took him to a brothel. There, Pete tried to assert his authority with one of the ladies, as he continues to be dissatisfied.

In that, Pete has been consistent since the pilot episode. As much as he has -- and Don is under the impression that Pete is living the dream -- it's never enough for Pete. He has to try and take down Roger at every turn as an old fossil, and then he tells Lane he's useless.

This affront leads Lane, who's struggling with his own feelings of uselessness, to challenge Pete to a fight, and subsequently knock him to the ground. That's not going to help Pete's own insecurities and dissatisfaction. At this point, what would satisfy him?

"Mad Men" continues Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on AMC.

TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good day, amazing moments, and delivers them right to your browser.
