New Trailer for The X-Files: I Want to Believe

OK, X-philes, ready for the most exciting one minute and 30 seconds of your day? There's a new, official trailer out now for the upcoming X-Files movie and it's pretty great. There's more of what we saw in the teaser trailer (Billy Connolly being spooky, people frantically digging in the snow, etc.) but there are also more details and the creepiness factor has been upped.

Also, I'm convinced that the eerie theme music that goes with The X-Files can rival other recognizable theme songs and movie scores for its ability to create instantaneous chills.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe opens in theaters July 25. To check out the new trailer,

Bill O'Reilly vs. a teleprompter - VIDEO

Filed under: News, Video, Celebrities, Reality-Free

Bill O'ReillyOne of my television guilty pleasures would have to be blooper shows. And my favorite bloopers are the news bloopers because 1) they're live, and 2) they involve something that is usually supposed to be so serious and controlled. This clip of Bill O'Reilly going ballistic isn't from a live broadcast, but it's still pretty great.

It's from his days as anchor of the syndicated tabloid show Inside Edition (he was anchor from 1988 to 1995). What's funny is that, even back then, when nine out of ten people you stopped on the street probably didn't have any idea who Bill O'Reilly was, it still looks like he was egotistical and ready to destroy anyone who disagreed with him or irritated him in any way. It's actually rather shocking, no matter how many times you watch, the moment where he goes from being really peeved to "oh my God he's going to kill the cameraman and the stage manager." I wonder how Sting feels about being the person who inadvertently set Bill off?

Full video after the jump! Looks like CBS forced them to take down the video. But trust us, it was funny.

Update: Here it is.

RedEye readers love Benjamin Linus but not Don
Draper

Filed under: Scrubs, Family Guy, Entourage, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Celebrities, 30 Rock, Chuck, Reality-Free

Jack McBrayerAs we told you last week, RedEye is in the middle of their annual Best Character on Television tournament, and now we're into the second round. It looks like some strong favorites have emerged, while some fan favorites have been voted off the island.

That wouldn't include Don Draper from Mad Men (who lost to Jermaine and Bret from from Flight of the Conchords), Morgan Grimes from Chuck (who lost to Michael Scott from The Office), or Captain Jack Harkness from Torchwood. He actually lost to Herbert from Family Guy. That has to be embarrassing.

LINKS TO THE LEFT

I trust that you all visit the many links in my blogroll there to the left. At the very least you've checked them out. (If not, do so!)

One of my daily stops (and several times a day at that!) is to Joe B's "I Am A TV Junkie".

Now, when I went searching for pictures today of John Colicos as Mikkos Cassadine from 'General Hospital' back in 1981, I came across this caricature of Colicos in the role.
And I have to wonder now......

Could Joe be part of the Cassadine crime family?

Just sayin', is all........

Jimmy Fallon Will Take Conan's Chair, But We Knew
That

As I type these words I'm half-listening to an NBC conference call/press conference, live from 30 Rock, where Lorne Michaels and a bunch of NBC bigwigs are introducing Jimmy Fallon as the next host of "Late Night." Fallon's appointment, though,...

"LOST IN SPACE" & "DOCTOR WHO": A DOUBLE CROSS

Great Britain has now seen "The Doctor's Daughter" episode of 'Doctor Who', while here in the States we've just had "Planet Of The Ood". I don't have much to say about the Ood-sphere in relation to Toobworld, save for the inference that they share the same solar system as the Sensorites from a VERY old 'Doctor Who' story. But at least the episode did use two of the 'Lost' numbers - it took place in the 42nd Century and the climax occurred in Warehouse 15.

Plus there was an always welcome guest star turn by Tim McInnerny.
Actually, I still have one last piece to post about the previous episode, "The Fires Of Pompeii", dealing with the previous series in which we saw the Pyroviles.

I think the true Pyrovile form was that of the living fire within the stone bodies. (Perhaps they were related to the living star-stuff from the episode of "42"?) The stone bodies gave them form and individuality, a rebellion perhaps against their fiery version of the Founders' Great Link found in 'Deep Space Nine'. As such, then we've seen three other Pyroviles in the TV Universe, about forty years ago - on 'Lost In Space'.
In "Space Beauty", traveling showman Farnum B returned to the Jupiter 2 with an offer for Judy Robinson - he wanted her to enter into an intergalactic beauty contest. The winner would go with the ultimate judge, known as The Dictator, back to his home galaxy, where her cool beauty could quench the fires within.

And that was to be taken literally, not just as a figurative sex reference! The Dictator - and assumedly, his two aides de camp - consisted of living fire within a suit of armor. It would make sense that the Dictator had to be of the same species as the Pyroviles, and perhaps the living star in "42". But enough time had passed in which they were able to advance from using stone body units to encasing their individuality in flame-resistant metal.

But in the end, the Dictator and his two henchmen were undone by the same method as the Doctor used over two thousand years earlier - moisture. The Doctor had a cute little yellow water pistol to help him out, while Major Don West was able to crank up a recalcitrant weather machine to cause snow around the Jupiter 2. (Frankly, I don't know why they blasted off from Earth with such a crude device when the government probably appropriated the weather machine used by Mikos Cassadine on the city of Port Charles back in 1981. The Space Agency had plenty of time to refine the equipment for a more peaceful use!)

By the way, Farnum B would be from the same world and culture as that of Vorg who wasin the 3rd Doctor's adventure "Carnival Of Monsters".

Desperate Housewives Rundown Episode 15, "Mother
Said"

This Mother's Day-themed episode of Desperate Housewives was overflowing with crazy drama ? including the departure of one character (though we kinda knew about that one)! I gotta say, this episode made me more uncomfortable than most, between the rudeness of Mike's mother and the entire storyline involving Kayla, it was one long, squirmy evening.

What did you think of "Mother Said"? For a rundown of what else happened this week, and to share your thoughts,

A Member of the Wedding

video details and more

I think we can safely say that Gay people have joined American television in a big way. Last weeks Grey's Anatomy featured a very hot kiss between two American soldiers and last night in what is being billed as the first gay marriage on network television, Kevin and Scotty got married on the season finale of ABC?s Brothers and Sisters. It is remarkable. The ?marriage? was handled with great dignity and respect by the ever-dramatic Walker family. Clearly ABC has become every gay man and woman?s best friend. So it is about the acting that one can make comments. There is so little spark between these two men that it is sometimes uncomfortable to watch them kiss. While on Grey's Anatomy the scene lasted only moments, there was something very passionate and real about these two men kissing. This is quibbling over details to be sure. The mere fact that two men are are making on national TV should be regarded as the high benchmark that is. Brothers and Sisters. which is written and produced by gay men, is an extraordinary leap into the American reality.
