Dark Shadows: Should Have Stayed Buried

Bringing back a 1960s TV series about a vampire sounds like a perfect job for director Tim Burton, who became a modern master of cinematic goth with movies like Batman, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Sleepy Hollow. But even with star and frequent collaborator Johnny Depp, the film adaptation of Dark Shadows fails to live up to Burton's previous work. Sadly, it feels more like a lazy, scattered project from someone trying to imitate Burton's style.

Depp stars as Barnabus Collins, a man who is turned into a vampire in the late 1700s by Angelique (Eva Green), a witch whose heart he has broken. After his loved ones are killed by Angelique, Barnabus is buried for 200 years until he's accidentally dug up. Back in his mansion in the 1970s, he gets acquainted with the existing Collins clan (including Michelle Pfeiffer and Chloë Grace Moretz), and sets about building a relationship with them, reinvigorating the family business, and going head-to-head with Angelique - who's been thriving for centuries. There's certainly a lot going on in, but none of it is compelling enough to make a satisfying movie.

To find out what else I thought of the movie, just keep reading.

Vinny Guadagnino On The First Time He Met Pauly D

Vinny Guadagnino stopped by "The Tonight Show" (Weeknights, 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC) and revealed that he's still a momma's boy at heart. To applause from the audience he revealed: "I just bought my family a house to live in."

However, even though he quit "Jersey Shore," Vinny showed that he hasn't left all his "Shore" antics in the past. The house has a special side entrance just for girls doing the walk of shame.

Vinny also recalled the genesis of his bromance with his "Shore" housemate, Pauly Delvecchio. Not believing that Guidos really still existed, he walked in to meet his new housemates for the first time "and I'm like, 'They found the last one.' ... I saw Pauly right in front of me."

"The Tonight Show" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.

Battleship Star and Real-Life Veteran Greg Gadson
Shares His Inspiring Story

Lieutenant colonel Greg Gadson is not only an actor in one of this Summer's biggest action movies, he is a real American hero. In 2007, while the decorated Army commander was stationed in Iraq and returning from a memorial service for two fellow soldiers, his car was hit by a roadside bomb. He lost both his legs in the accident and his right arm and hand were severely damaged. Since then, Greg's story of recovery and triumph over challenge has become an inspiration to many, and he's shared his journey with thousands of people as both a public speaker and the director of the US Army's Wounded Warrior program. Battleship director Peter Berg was among those touched by Greg's experience, and made it his mission to track him down for the role of Lieutenant Colonel Mick Canales in the film. The first-time actor didn't shy away from the challenge and, when we sat down with him at a recent press day for the film, he told us he even requested to do his own stunts. Hear more about Greg's remarkable story in our interview and see him in action when Battleship hits theaters May 18!

Who Died In The 'Grey's Anatomy' Plane Crash

Fans of "Grey's Anatomy" (Thu., 9 p.m. ET on ABC) have become used to the regular season-ending cliffhangers, and Thursday night's Season 8 penultimate episode was no exception.

Most of the main characters were flying to Boise, Idaho when their plane crashed. With bodies strewn on the ground viewers were left not knowing who may have survived the impact.

Back in April 2012 "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter that one of the main characters would die in the Season 8 Finale: "We're not talking [about] some guest star [who] is going to come in and die kind of thing," she said. "It's a a big death and it's fairly shocking."

Find out who didn't survive the plane crash on the "Grey's Anatomy" Season 8 Finale, which airs Thursday, May 17th at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

'Punk'd: Lauren Conrad Covered In Trash

Dax Shepard ("Parenthood") takes the reins on the latest installment of "Punk'd" (Thu., 10 p.m. ET on MTV). It was a return for Shepard, who used to be a co-star of the original iteration. And he proved just as fun and clever with this second appearance as well.

He put Chloe Moretz into the middle of an awkward love triangle with her limo driver. Metta World Peace, the athlete formerly known as Ron Artest, also faced Shepard head on and failed to recognize him. Shepard accosted him in a parking garage asking for an autograph and picture. But he saved the nastiest for Lauren Conrad ("The Hills").

Conrad and her friends witnessed as a woman fell into a trash dumpster and then got dumped into a trash truck. When the driver refused to believe them that there was a woman, Conrad and her friends had to hear the woman shouting that she was being crushed "like 'Star Wars.'"

The woman was rescued, and even had a big trash-covered hug for Conrad for helping "save" her life. It was certainly a lot of fun, with the pranks a little more elaborate and longer-running than much of what has been seen so far since this reboot.

"Punk'd" continues Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
