Do You Think Britney Spears Will Make a Good X
Factor Host

It's official: Britney Spears has signed a deal with Fox to be a judge on the upcoming season of The X Factor. Spears will be joining existing coaches Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid for the show, which is set to air in the Fall.

It seems music competitions have been pulling bigger and bigger names to their shows as of late, with Christina Aguilera currently set to return for a third season of The Voice and Jennifer Lopez on the panel at American Idol. After so many swirling rumors, I'm excited to hear that this is really happening, and given that the show wasn't doing superswell ratings-wise last season, I think Britney is a great draw. However, The X Factor is unique in that it requires the coaches to really mentor their pupils, which is not the type of commitment we've seen her take on in the past. What do you think, will Britney make a good coach?

WATCH: Jessica Sanchez Delivers Explosive
Performance

And we thought last week was good...

On last night's episode of "American Idol," the final four were tasked with performing California-themed songs and personal faves they wished they'd written. 16-year-old contestant Jessica Sanchez took on two classic singers: Etta James ("Steal Away,") and Jennifer Holiday ("And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going").

While the part-Mexican, part-Filipina singer sang the first song beautifully (the gorgeous runs in her voice were the perfect fit for the blues song!), it was Jessica's second performance of "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going," that showed off her phenomenal vocal range and solidified her frontrunner status in the competition.

Judge Jennifer Lopez raved about the explosive performance, saying: "This is crazy. With a performance like that, there's nothing to say. Your vocal ability, it's not something you see all the time."

And, Jennifer wasn't the only one who was moved by Jessica's powerful performance last night. Jennifer Holiday, the actress who made the song famous in the 1981 Broadway musical "Dreamgirls," tweeted about how much she loved Jessica's performance last night. "Yes, Jessica's performance of 'And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going' was absolutely flawless! An amazing voice," she tweeted.

Holiday also had this to say about Jessica. "Jessica Sanchez should be our next American Idol,."

We agree! Just give her the crown, already!

WATCH: Colbert Nearly Forced Into Gay Marriage By
Obama Announcement

As feared, the moment Obama endorsed gay marriage, straight marriages all across the country began to crumble. Stephen Colbert, himself, nearly fell into the gay marriage trap, almost exchanging vows with longterm friend Tad, played by Paul Dinello, right on his set.

After the near miss, Colbert went on to applaud North Carolina for passing Amendment One, which bans gay marriage in the state, and reminded straight couples that gays would be crying themselves to sleep in solitude on Wednesday, making straight relationships "stronger with every tear."

Ryan Gosling and Sean Penn Play Cops and Robbers
in the Gangster Squad Trailer

Have you always thought that Ryan Gosling would look dapper in a 1940s suit? Well, you've come to the right place. In the trailer for Gangster Squad, Gosling and James Brolin play LAPD cops who are trying to take down a notorious gangster played by Sean Penn. As expected, the lines between good and bad are a little blurred as we see that the cops aren't necessarily sticking to a strict moral code.

It's fun to see Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling back on the big screen together again - her character appears to be with Penn but definitely shacks up with her Crazy, Stupid, Love costar. I'm already loving how stylish the film looks, right down to the cast's spot-on gangster accents. The film doesn't hit theaters until October, but check out the trailer when you

Meredith, McDreamy & More Sign On For More
'Grey's Anatomy'

"Grey's Anatomy" will reportedly be back with its key castmembers, according to TVLine.

Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, James Pickens, Jr. and Chandra Wilson have all signed on for two more years with the ABC medical drama, although the network has yet to officially order a "Grey's Anatomy" Season 9 or Season 10.

Fans have been eager to find out about Pompeo and Dempsey's fates on "Grey's Anatomy" (Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC) -- which is now in its eighth season -- since the actors' contracts were expiring. "If I hear from the fans that they want us to keep going, then I would continue because we owe them everything," Pompeo told TV Guide in October 2011.

"I have a family to support, and why not have a discussion about continuing?" Dempsey said in December. "The question is will I do a full season, a half season or come back at all?"

Showrunner Shonda Rhimes has been teasing a main character death in the upcoming Season 8 finale (Thursday, May 13). She told TV Guide, ""When one of your main characters dies, it always affects the heart and soul of the hospital." Many viewers speculated it would be Pompeo (Meredith Grey) or Dempsey (Derek Shepherd) due to their contracts ending.

But it now seems like Meredith and Derek, who are choosing between Seattle and leaving for Boston -- along with Cristina Yang (Oh), Alex Karev (Chambers), Chief Webber (Pickens, Jr.) and Bailey (Wilson) -- will survive and return to Seattle Grace.

So whose "Grey's" life will come to an end? "It's a special one this year," "Grey's" star Jesse Williams told HuffPost of the finale. "It's important and it's tragic."
