Review: Cougar Town - Don't Come Around Here No
More

Cougar Town: Don't Come Around Here No More(S01E07) For the first half-dozen episodes of Cougar Town, legions of watchers have been wondering along with me what would happen when a) Courteney Cox remembers she's no playing Monica Gellar anymore and dials it down a notch and b) the ensemble starts melding with each other a bit more. Well, we seemed to get that in this episode, and it made for a funny and engaging half-hour.

Do I still have issues with the show? Sure. But this episode was the best sign I can think of that Bill Lawrence and company are going to get the show on a funny footing by the end of the season.

Q&A - Alison Brie (Trudy Campbell)

trudy-325-s3.jpg

Alison Brie (Trudy Campbell) shares her thoughts on Episode 12's shocking historical events, Trudy and Pete's nimble dance moves, and why the Campbells might actually be one of Mad Men's most functional couples.

Q: Trudy's marriage with Pete has weathered a few storms. Have you learned anything about real-life relationships from your on-air one?

A: Trudy has taught me that one of the most important things is compromise. What keeps her and Pete going strong is that she can go with the flow. It would be better if both parties were doing this, though [Laughs]. I think Trudy is one of the best wives on the show. I loved how they've come together in their marriage this season. Matt [Weiner] said, "You know, last season you were both working out the kinks." It wasn't common for couples to live together before marriage. So all the things you figure out today over the first two years of dating, back then you were figuring it out over the first two years of marriage.

Q: Pete's reasons for not attending the Sterling wedding are obvious. What's the best excuse you've used to get out of a wedding?

Bullied boys strike back with Cartoon Network's
Commando

Cartoon NetworkThe Cartoon Network is stepping away from cartoons yet again. This time they're creating a new reality show in which scrawny teenaged boys ages 13 to 16 will be put through high-tech training an effort to stop them from being bullied or to get back property that has been borrowed and not returned. The series will be called Going Commando. Insert joke here.

I'm somewhat ambivalent on this show. On one hand, teaching kids problem-solving skills is a great idea. On the other hand, the show should also teach the kids the discipline needed to use their knowledge for good rather than evil (perhaps the show could be sponsored by Google?).

I'm sure many of us nerdy types were bullied in our youth and would have enjoyed the use of "night vision, hydro reconnaissance or rappelling" in an effort to fix the problem or at least make it go away. So what do you think? Is this program a good idea or a disaster waiting to happen?

Modern Family- En Garde

I read a review of last night’s episode of Modern Family that upset me this morning.  The reviewer said that Modern Family “needed more diversity and should include more black people.”  I’m not going to include a link to the review, because I don’t want to give this person any traffic.  I guess the more [...]
