The Young and the Restless serves up a winner

billy_miller_the_young_and_the_restless On soaps, every now and then the powers that be -- usually the head writer who's overdosed on Red Bull and jelly beans months before -- comes up with the idea of doing a special episode. They'll focus on a single character and think outside the box. Sometimes they hit the jackpot; sometimes they create a clunker. The Young and the Restless offered a very special New Year's Eve episode yesterday and it was a home run.

Headwriter Maria Arena Bell and her talented team, including Hogan Sheffer, decided to put the character of Billy Abbott under the microscope and, as it turned out, Y&R pulled off a great episode.

It wouldn't have worked nearly as well if not for the riveting performance of actor Billy Miller. He rose to the occasion and this could be an award-winner if it's submitted for the next round of Daytime Emmys. If you haven't seen it yet or it's in your DVR waiting to be viewed, be warned that there are SPOILERS ahead.

DEEP SIX: THE GRAND MOFF WISH-CRAFT

Here's my wish-list for Steven Moffat to consider for future episodes of 'Doctor Who':

1) Get Stephen Fry to write that episode which he was supposed to have already supplied, but was too busy. Free up some time, Fry!

2) If the Time Lords are back, bring back Romana from E-Space for a guest spot. In fact, while you're at it, bring back Carole Ann Ford as Susan. Wouldn't it be interesting for her to be reunited with her grandfather again, especially now that he looks so much younger than her?

3) Let the Messiah Complex stories fade away with the RTD regime.

4) Continue the famous writers theme. May I suggest Tolkien? The inhabitants of the Forest of Cheem might have been the inspiration for the Ents....

5) Bring Paul McGann back and show his involvement in the Time War. Give the Eighth Doctor his due!

6) Persuade the BBC to do a crossover with 'Being Human'. It seems like a natural, especially now that the Doctor "appears" to be the same age as George, Mitchell, and Annie.

Wanna see a sneak peek of the first new episode
of Lost

Lost We told you yesterday about the clues that are beginning to leak about the final season of Lost, but the heck with that. How would you like to be one of the first people to see actual footage from the first episode?

The show is having a sweepstakes where 815 (of course) winners will get a special message sent to them that will have a sneak peek of the first episode.
