'Rehab With Dr. Drew' Ditches Celebs For Regular People

Out with the celebrities and in with the regular folks who really need serious treatment and help. "Rehab with Dr. Drew" hopes to be able to provide the help they needed. Viewers were introduced to the new group of patients seeking his and his team's aid with substance abuse, and there were definitely some severe cases.

"Finally I am getting a chance to show what Bob (Forrest), Shelley (Sprague) and I do normally ? treat people like you and I, regular people. It turned out to be a very intense experience," Dr. Drew Pinsky told Celebuzz. He went on to applaud the network for their ongoing support of the eight patients.

As he explained to both the patients and the network, what viewers will see on television is just the beginning of the process. But VH1 stepped up and continued to fund the ongoing treatment for Pinksy's patients long after the cameras stopped rolling.

It's easy to imagine there are no quick fixes for Deanna, who was deep into a heroin addiction, using 20 bags a day. She admitted that sometimes she marveled that she didn't overdose. She struggles with her 3-year-old son's father being in jail, and having a mother who refuses to believe she was molested as a child, and told her that getting raped was the result of her life choices.

More painful truths and difficult recovers lie ahead on "Rehab with Dr. Drew," Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on VH1.
