Former "Jackass" star Steve-O stopped by HuffPost Live and opened up beating his inner demons, and how life as a "semi-famous drug-addicted male slut" inspires his comedy routine.
The 38-year-old revealed that before he got sober in 2008, he was doing drugs to the point where he was hearing voices and hallucinating about people who weren't really there.
He revealed to host Alyona Minkovski that the voices were telling him he was going to have to answer for the times he had done to harm people, and he realized he didn't want to do that anymore. The former MTV star says that he then gave up eating meat and about a month later he headed off to rehab and has been sober ever since.
Previously Steve-O had said that he only made the decision to go to rehab after his "Jackass" co-star Johnny Knoxville organized an intervention.
"Knoxville came over to my apartment with the director of Jackass [Jeff Tremaine], the director of photography, the executive producer [and] the sound guy. It was like the whole crew of Jackass came over to stop me from hurting myself after helping me hurt myself for 10 years, which is pretty amazing," he told Dr. Drew Pinsky in 2011.
