RETRO REWIND: Tiffani -Amber Thiessen

Before she tried to just go by Tiffani Theissen or was rocking out at the After Dark on 90210 as she schemed her way into Dylan's arms as Valerie, Miss Tiffani Amber Thiessen was an ambitious teen trying on dozens of bikinis and one-piece bathing suits for Teen Magazine every summer.

In 1987, the talented Tiffani was crowned Miss Junior America. A year later, she won Teen magazines "Great Model Search" and appeared in almost every issue donning some sort of trendy fashion. I remember, because I used to wonder how bored she must get putting on bathing suits, smiling and jumping into position to look like she was more excited about swimsuit #37 than she was about swimsuit #36.


But it wouldn't be until 1989 that America would be introduced to the charming and naive smile of Kelly Kapowski, the on-again off-again girlfriend of Zac on Saved by the Bell. (Don't forget, she used to date A.C. Slater too.) She continued the role into the short-lived Saved by the Bell: The College Years.

In 1994, she transferred over to the more successful college years on Beverly Hills 90210, leaving behind wholesome Kelly and her long tresses. With short hair and a new set of breast implants, Thiessen emerged as the sexpot Valerie Malone, who would shatter hearts with her stiletto heels.

Since then she been in various movies and television shows and posted racy photos of herself, but with or without the "Amber," she'll always be my favorite waitress at "The Maxx."Subscribe in a reader
