Song of the Day: Maximo Park, "Our Velocity"

Newcastle, England's Maximo Park are like the rough-and-tumble younger brothers of Bloc Party or Keane. They've got all of the fun pop sensibility with a much harder edge. Also, the band writes its name with an unnecessary umlaut over the "I," which seems fitting given the pop music's punk-rock undertones.

The band's 2005 single, "Apply Some Pressure," is still in constant rotation on my running mix, and I'll now be adding "Our Velocity," from the band's new album, Our Earthly Pleasures.
